Sewer Cleaning
What to Do If You Have a Clogged Sewer
Similar to your home’s drains, a sewer line is the vein that sends waste out of your home and into a municipal water treatment facility. Keeping these lines clean and free of any blockages is a necessity to sanitary living conditions and keeping your home in good condition. Sewer cleaning is a great first step in avoiding sewer blockages and damages. Backed up sewer lines can cause a lot of damage to the homes in which they are connected.
First thing, give us a call so we can find the source of the clog. Do not use chemical drain cleaners, as these will just damage your pipes and cause future problems. If you can access your sewer cleanout line, open that to release the pressure on your piping. Shut off the water in your home and don’t use any plumbing, as this will exacerbate the problem. Whatever you do, know that we will take care of you and get those sewers cleaned out.
Spotting Blockages in a Sewer Line
Being able to spot a backed up sewer line is as important to your home’s health as being able to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack. Water and sewage can wreak havoc on a home and a family. If you notice any of these signs, you may have need of a good sewer cleaning. Please give us a call immediately if:
- Sewage is coming up out of your drains instead of down the drains.
- A new gurgling sound is coming from a drain.
- You notice an unpleasant smell.
- Small pieces of roots are coming out of your drains as well. This is a sign that tree roots have invaded your home’s plumbing.
- Any time you use one drain in your home, water bubbles up out of a different drain. This means that the water isn’t going anywhere, it’s just sitting in your pipes.
